The idea
Organisations are social systems disguised as process systems
Organisations are social systems disguised as process systems.
What it reveals
Every organisation contains a unique network of people, relationships, assumptions, incentives, trust structures, and informal arrangements. The organisation is unique not because of its chart, but because of the particular group of people who learned how to make it work.
Why it matters now
You cannot fully understand an organisation from an org chart, a process map, or a management framework. Important reality lives in local knowledge, workarounds, trust networks, and unwritten rules.
Leadership response
Before redesigning the formal system, find the relationships and informal decisions that currently make the work possible.
