Privacy notice

This is a plain-language account of what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Draft for legal review — bracketed items must be confirmed before publication.

Who we are

Who is responsible for this site

This site is operated by [PLACEHOLDER — legal entity name and registered address to be confirmed with counsel].

For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, that entity is the "data controller" — the organisation responsible for the personal information described on this page. Where we refer to "we", "us" or "our" in this notice, we mean that entity.

What we collect

What information we collect, and when

When you use the contact form, you choose to give us your name, your email address, optionally your organisation, and whatever you write in your message.

If you email us directly, we receive the information you choose to include in that email.

If you follow links to LinkedIn or podcast platforms, those services handle your information under their own privacy policies — we do not receive it.

We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not build marketing profiles of visitors.

Why we use it

Why we use your information

We use the information you send us to read and reply to your message — to respond to a story you have suggested, a guest inquiry, feedback on an episode, or another reason you selected in the form.

We do not add you to a mailing list from a contact-form message. If we ever launch one, it will be opt-in only, and this page will describe it before it goes live.

Who else sees it

Who else can see your information

Your message reaches us by email and is seen by the show's hosts, Peter Barnes and Adam Johnson, as needed to respond to you.

We use third-party services to run this site (website hosting and email delivery). [PLACEHOLDER — list of service providers and their locations to be confirmed with counsel.] These providers process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Where it lives

International transfers

Our hosts are based in different countries — the United Kingdom and the European Union, the United States, and Chile — and our infrastructure may process information in any of these. [PLACEHOLDER — specific transfer safeguards to be confirmed with counsel.]

Where information crosses borders, we rely on the protections recognised under UK and EU data protection law for those transfers.

How long we keep it

Retention

We keep contact-form messages and email correspondence for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case a conversation continues. [PLACEHOLDER — retention period to be confirmed with counsel.]

We do not currently maintain a subscriber database.

Your rights

Your rights over your information

If you are in the UK or the EU (and under comparable laws elsewhere), you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our use of it.

To exercise any of these rights, email [PLACEHOLDER — contact email to be confirmed] or write to us at the address above. We will respond within one month.

If you are in the UK or EU and unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local EU data protection authority.

Changes

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and revise the effective date below.

Effective date: [PLACEHOLDER — to be set when the final notice is published].

Questions

If anything here is unclear, ask us.

We would rather answer a question than have you guess. Use the contact form and we will come back to you.
